Article 1: Mission Statement

 

The IRON FIST LEAGUE (IFL) is a Non-Profit organization that promotes miniature gaming, especially the Games Workshop line of products and the Games Workshop view on gaming (To Have Fun). The IFL runs tournaments and other events (including for many gaming systems. However Warhammer 40K and Warhammer Fantasy are the two primary game systems we support.

 

Article 2: Application Process

 

Anyone with a genuine interest in gaming is eligible to hold membership in this organization.

 

General Membership

 

  1. Joining the IRON FIST is free. This allows access to the LEAGUES message boards currently at http://groups.yahoo.com/IRONFISTVA and the opportunity to participate in league events.
  2. Playing in IRON FIST events requires you to have only the following items
    1. Adequate rule knowledge (of course, if you don’t IFL members will be happy to teach you!).
    2. Sound mind and body.
    3. An army
      1. Painting is not a must however it is recommended. In some instances such as Rogue Trader tournaments and Special Events it may count against you but you will still be able to participate.
      2. Your Army must be WYSIWYG or ”what you see is what you get”.
    4. Good sportsmanship
    5. The desire to have fun & represent the IFL in a proper fashion.

 

Paid Membership

 

League participants may upgrade their status in the League for $10 annually. The benefits include the following:

 

  1. A Membership Card good for one year from the month paid.
  2. Discounts at several local stores and events.
  3. Voting privileges in club elections, etc.
  4. Eligibility to serve on the LEAGUE Council as elected officials.
  5. The right to initiate, sponsor, or host IFL events. 

 

Article 3: Council

 

The IRON FIST council:

 

  1. The council is a body of members responsible for smooth operation of the LEAGUE, to include financial matters, approval and scheduling of events, and the operation of the league website (http://www.ironfistleague.com/).
  2. Council members are elected by paid IFL members for a 1 year term each December. 
  3. The council meets quarterly to attend to IFL business. 
  4. Establish the rules and policies of the IRON FIST. 
  5. Address any concerns, complaints or items of interest from League members.

 

Organization/Structure

 

Council Members (3)—Voting members

Duties/Description:

  • Approval and scheduling of events
  • Overseeing LEAGUE finances 

 

President

Duties/Description:

  • Selected from within the Council by internal vote.
  • Chairs Council meetings 

 

Secretary/Accountant/Treasurer

Duties/Description:

  • Selected from within the council by internal vote.
  • Maintain the books for the IRON FIST and provide a quarterly statement to the Council.
  • Maintain a membership database including status (i.e. paid or not).
  • Responsible for Membership cards, LEAGUE dues, and IRON FIST funds. 

 

Web Team

Duties/Description:

  • Responsible for reasonable maintenance and upgrades of the IRONFIST website.

 

Special Interest Team—Non-Voting Members

Duties/Description:

  • Publicity for the IRON FIST.
  • Aid and assistance at IRON FIST events.
  • Special event Management.
  • Takes requests only from the President or Coordinators.

 

Special Interest Teams and the Web Team are strictly volunteers. However, it is limited to paid members.

 

Event Coordinators

 

Event coordinators are those paid members that have volunteered to run some sort of club event, anything from a one day mega-battle to a 10 week League. Any paid member may propose an event to the Council. The Council will review the proposal and check for scheduling conflicts. Once the Council has approved the event, the Event Coordinator is responsible for making any further arrangements necessary with Web Team and/or Council for anything needed.

 

Article 4: Code of Conduct and Punishment

 

  1. Have fun. If you (and your opponent) aren't having fun, you're doing something wrong. It's a game. Treat it as such.
  2. Follow the rules of game. Everybody hates a cheater, don't be one. If you wouldn't want your momma to hear about what you are about to do, don't do it!
  3. When it comes to differing opinions about the rules, state your case as clearly and calmly as you can. If your opponent still disagrees, roll it off.
  4. Respect your opponent and the people around you. Nobody wants to hear your trash talk, and save the "Waaagh!" for GamesDay.
  5. Please be mindful of others and your environment, whether this involves personal hygiene, language, tone, and/or demeanor.

 

If the council receives complaints about the behavior of an IFL member, the council will:

  1. Remind the player that their such actions are a poor reflection on the IFL and all its members
  2. Warn the player that a repeat of such behavior can result in loss of membership
  3. If there are repeated reports of poor behavior by a member, the council will vote on the removal of said player.
  4. If a player has their IFL membership revoked, all membership dues are non-refundable.

 

Article 5: Meetings

 

  1. The Council must meet at least once per quarter in some fashion with a quorum of voting members to discuss and vote upon important issues.
  2. Quarterly meetings will be held in the last month of each quarter to provide both General and Paid members opportunities to discuss club matters with the Council and club.
  3. A Full meeting must be held once yearly in December for Election/Re-Election of Council members, with the new Council taking office in January.

 

Article 6: Dues

 

Membership dues may be paid in any of the following ways:

  • Mail it to the Treasurer
  • Paypal it to the Treasurer or
  • give it directly to the Treasurer.

 

  1. The treasurer is responsible to provide a Membership Card within two weeks and ensure all benefits the LEAGUE benefits.
  2. Our current treasurer is Peter Klucefski you can email him at klufer7139@aol.com to obtain his mailing address or other payment method.
  3. Dues are $10.00 annually.
  4. Members will lose all privileges upon expiration of their membership, which may be restablished by dues payment.

 

Article 7: Amendments to the Constitution and by-laws

 

Once this document has been ratified by a 75% vote of the council members and signed it shall be the framework from which the IRON FIST LEAGUE shall operate. It is the understanding of IRON FIST that as it grows its needs will grow as well. With this understanding certain laws will eventually be voted upon. Any action voted upon must abide by the guidelines established in this charter document.

Copied over from the IFL Documentation forum. I applied some minor reformatting and took the liberty of integrating the IFL Member Code of Conduct into Article 4. It'd be nice if the Council reviewed this.
