JonsLizards- Spawnings of the Army of Tepeyollotl

Children of the Old Ones march to War

Lord Mazdamundi, ruler of the temple-city of Hexoatl, has declared that many species have deviated to far from the infallible plan of the Old Ones. In order to attempt to correct this failing of the weaker races he has tasked one of his pupils, Tepeyollotl, to take charge of an army recently born from the spawning pools of Hexoatl. Utilizing the mystical paths of the Old Ones Tepeyollotl and his newly spawned army will go to War.

Overview

The Lizardmen were my first Warhammer fantasy army. It's been a while since I have played them, but I decided to take this opportunity to force myself to bust them back out and get them all painted up and ready to be fielded. I expect there will be some initial hiccups and difficulties, but I was able to cause some headaches amongst my friends with my "Leezards" and I hope to do the same now.

This is also the first time I have built a web page...so hopefully this all works out alright.

Week 0:

Play tested my week 1 army. Had a couple of hiccups, but I think that most of them were things that can be overcome tactics wise, that or are things that I can't change. The best example of that being that my Skink priest decided that he could play with the big boys despite having flunked out of the schooling pool, he didnt successfully cast anything all game, had two miscasts and eventually blew himself up.

I still have some painting to do before the league gets started and I have only ghetto based my guys (painted the bases) so I guess I will need to actually base them in order to get the bonus points...we'll see if that gets done in time.

I still might end up doing some list tweaking but I will add some detail to the first week proposed list based off the Week 0 play testing.

With the blessings of the Old Ones I will erase you all from existence.

Week 1:

Here is the final draft for my 1K list of week 1. I look forward to seeing some of you at GPC on Monday, perhaps also Tuesday and Saturday.

I havent participated in an escalation league and its been a while since I've played Warhammer fantasy so I will apologize in advance for asking a ton of stupid questions.

Week 1 Postgame:

On Opening day the Spawned Army of Tepeyollotl fought Durak's Black Powder Patrol. I will attempt to put the details on a seperate page in order to keep this one relatively uncluttered:

Spawned Army of Tepeyollotl vs Duraks Black Powder Patrol 1k game

The end result was a victory.

At the first Saturday games of the league I played against Richard Skaven horde "Ratputin Marches". More details will be provided here:

Army of Tepeyollotl vs Ratputin Marches 1k game

The end result was a victory.

Week 2:

My plan for week two is to add to the pre-existing week one list with minimal changes. I added a couple units of Skinks and decided to check out whether I would like the "Scout" rule or not. I am also adding a second Salamander, as everyone universally hates them and to squeeze some more usefullness out of them before the new rules nerf 'em up.

          Heroes: (214)

Saurus Scar-Veteran Garboq, with Lt. Armor, Shield and Sword of the Hornet

               Skink Priest, Level 2

          Core: (506)

Skinks with Javelin and Shield x11

               Skinks with Blowpipes x11

Saurus Warriors x17 with Full Command

Skinks with Javelin and Shield, Scouts x10

               Skinks with Blowpipes, Scouts x10

          Special: (349)

               Kroxigor x3

               Saurus Cavalry x5

          Rare: (130)

               Salamander Hunting Pack x2

Total: 1199 points, 4 casting dice and 3 dispel dice

I dont know how often I will get a chance to play in the following weeks. I expect that Saturday mornings will be the most frequent opportunity for me to get a game or two in.

Week 2 Postgame:  I was able to get two games in the Saturday of this week, I think that will be the only time that I will be able to consistently play, although I'm not sure how often two games will be possible.

My first game of this week was against Mikes Dark Elves. I will create a page on that encounter as I did remember to take pictures for it.

Army of Tepeyollotl vs Tower of Blessed Dread

I think that the main take away from this battle was the effectiveness of bringing my own terrain, my swamp combined with my skirmishers made it almost impossible for Mikes deadly crossbows to find a mark. The end result was a victory.

My second game was against Chris and his highly mobile army of Chaos Warriors. This was my first time playing against Chaos in Fantasy battle and the Knights of Chaos were everything I had been told to fear. The pure volume of attacks at a high Strength level that they can produce was amazing. I will have to think about how best to take them on, we'll see how things go next time around. I was to worried about my lizards dieing all over the field to really take any pictures so I might not make this one its own webpage. While I was able to kill everyone in his army except for 3 in each of his two units of Chaos Knights...he was able to kill everyone in mine with the exception of 7 skinks in 2 of my skink units. The end result was a solid victory for Chris.

Week 3:

My plan for this week is to add another strong block. The last two weeks I have been using the one firm block of infantry to build my army around. I have added units of skinks in the previous week and I think that they will continue to have value as I continue to fine tune how to utilize them. I will keep the same week from the previous week, but add in a block of Saurus Warriors with spears.  I am really looking forward to the new rules when Saurus warriors will actually be the Heavy Inf they are currently billed as, but hopefully the additional block will give my army a little more versatility.
