Fantasy Escalation League Rules

Page history last edited by Casey Campbell 15 years, 5 months ago

Here are the rules for the 2009 Warhammer Fantasy Escalation League for the Iron Fist League:

  • The League will start on January 19th.  Any games played before this date can not be submitted.
  • Games must be played with the point value set for that week.
  • Army lists can change between weeks but should remain the same throughout the week.
  • All GT legal armies and units are allowed.
  • There is no limit to the amount of games that can be played and counted during the course of the League.

Each week will increase the point values being played for that week's game.

Week 1: 1000 points

Week 2: 1200 points

Week 3: 1400 points

Week 4: 1500 points

Week 5: 1700 points

Week 6: 1900 points

Week 7: 2000 points

Week 8: 2200 points

Week 9: 2400 points

Week 10: 2500 points

Over the course of the League players will earn points.  The top 8 scores will allow those players to go onto a 3 round final tournament to determine the League Champion.

Points can be earned through playing games and by updating their wiki.

For each game played points will be awarded in the following manner:

  • Winner gains points equal to the point value of the game.
  • Loser gains points equal to half the point value of the game.
  • Players that draw will each gain points equal to 3/4 the point value of the game.
  • Players will gain a 10% bonus of the point value they earn if their entire army is painted and based.

In addition to games played players can earn bonus points for updating their wiki.  This is purely subjective but such things as army lists, battle reports, pictures, and army background will earn points.  Each week players earn points on this topic up to the point level of games being played that week.

If you have any further questions please do feel free to comment and let me know.  I'll be sure to have things clarified.

I plan to upgrade to the new set of Lizardmen rules once they come out, and once I have a chance to get my mitts on a copy and read over it. I assume that's fine for all? I will be happy to state if/when the army for that week is built under the updated rules.

One more thing, how detailed are we supposed to get on the descriptions of the units? Do I have to list out every piece of gear I pay for or do I write the unit, size, total cost and the magic and item info is something to find out during the battle? If its full disclosure just let me know.

As long as the Lizardman book is available, and I'll consider any preview copies at the location you play to count, than you can use them for the League. I know the preview copies are at the GamesWorkshop stores and I'd expect them to be at the Game Parlor as well.

Yes, full disclosure is required. WYSIWYG is also important.

Thanks!

I know that, watching other WHFB in the pyramid, I've seen kooky stuff that's not in the Army Book sometimes get put on the table (specifically Doomwheels and Verminlords). Will that sort of thing be permitted in the league?

I have not added points for updating the Wiki, as I do not know how much we were supposed to be adding...many people have put time and energy into updating the Wiki...I would like to reward them and am happy to make a decision on it, but would like input from Casey, at the very least.

I believe its "up to the point level of games being played that week" but needs some gradient based on subjective judgment. The questions being what types of activity is worth what portion of the points level for the week?

What if going to be the point value of the tournament?

Are the opponenets going to be seeded or random?

When?
